The Meaning of Floral Tattoos

I’m a guy wanting a floral rib tattoo!?
I’m 18 years old and want a tattoo that has some meaning to me. I’ve always wanted a rib cage tattoo going into a shoulder and quarter sleeve. I have been thinking of getting a peony and an orchid along my ribs and shoulder, these are my grandmother and my mothers own favourite flowers so they hav some meaning. Would it look weird with a big guy(6′2", athletic) having a floral tattoo? i dont think so because its a personal tatto, im not getting a tribal tat! Any ideas on how to make it look not so girly? thanks!

If you’re confident getting it and it has personal meaning to you, I don’t see why you should be worried. I think it sounds like a really nice idea for a tattoo.
Also good choice on not getting a tribal.

The flowers done right, realistic, would look hot on a muscular guy’s ribs. get them big enough. don’t cry when it hurts! you don’t like tribal? get swirls of smokey color around the flowers, asian inspired.

My cousin’s husband (my cousin-in-law, haha) has a full sleeve on his right arm for his two daughters. From his shoulder to his elbow is covered with intertwining and overlapping jasmine flowers . . . it’s absolutely gorgeous! I am not usually a big fan of black/grey tattoos, either.
Usually, flowers = a)girly or b)flamboyant gay man, of which I am guessing that you are neither. That’s just the way it is. You might catch some shit for being a guy with a floral tat, but if the person doesn’t take the time to get to know what it means, they’re not worth listening to anyway :]
